Police to take action against 59 social media groups promote violence.

The Sri Lanka Police has warned that legal action will be taken against those who using social media platforms to gather crowds to engage in acts of violence.

Issuing a statement, the Police said 59 such social media groups and their admins have been identified and investigations are underway against them under the Criminal Law and the Computer Crime Act of Sri Lanka.

The Police further that the groups had gathered people via groups operated on various social media platforms to carry out attacks on houses, vehicles, and other properties on and after 9th of May.
