At least 17 people were injured, most of them delicately, in a solid blast that shaken a four story building being remodeled in central Madrid on Friday, Spanish specialists said, and rescue groups were looking for people possibly caught inside.
Four people were taken to hospital, one in genuine condition, Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez Almeida said, including that the cause was not however clear. “A few kind of works were being done in the building” in the upmarket Salamanca neighborhood where the blast occurred, he said.
“Firefighters are inside checking the building’s structure and to determine whether more people could be inside,” he told Telemadrid TV channel.
