No power cuts on May 1 and 3: Special government holiday on 2

Power outages will not be implemented on the 1st & 3rd of May, says the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said in a tweet that, “Uninterrupted power supply for the 1st of May and 3rd of May. 3rd of May for the Eid al-Fitr festival. 1st of May for the International Labor Day since there will be a low demand for power due to the closure of workplaces.”

Moreover, the 2nd of May has been declared a special Government holiday.

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, J.J Ratnasiri stated that this special holiday was declared because of the existing transportation difficulties and problems encountered in operating the offices during power outages.
